If your impressions of Ashley Tisdale are fuzzy around the edges but include visions of singing schoolgirls, blond supercuteness, and shrieking, hysterical 10-year-olds, you'll want to check them at the door before checking out Headstrong. It's not that fourth graders won't like the long-limbed High School Musical star's hooky, happy, and at times hyper solo debut. It's just that you might, too. Tisdale, a little like Lindsey Lohan and not at all like Hilary Duff, doesn't waste time ditching her groovy-juvie reputation to reimagine herself as a red-hot starlet here. "He Said She Said" is a steamy dancefloor seduction that ought to come with a PG-15 rating ("Baby I can see us moving like that/Baby I can see us touchin' like that," it goes), and "Not Like That" mines familiar misunderstood-celebrity territory in a way that's less whiny than worked-up. The thing is, it all sounds pretty good--from the head-bobbing urban beat in "Be Good to Me" to the fuzz and boingy effects on "Over It," Tisdale proves her appeal is not limited to junior proms. Which is not to say she doesn't leave a little something for fans who still dot their I's with circles: One of Headstrong's strongest numbers, "Unlove You," is tailor-made for belt-outs in pastel-pink bedrooms. --Tammy La Gorce

Headstrong (Ashley Tisdale) / B0012BWZRC
I came to Amazon to purchase "Headstrong" (the song) and "Unlove You", having heard both on GrooveShark (recommended because I enjoy a little candy pop now and again?) and having fallen in crush with this fresh new voice. The price for the whole album was so low that I ended up purchasing the whole thing, figuring that if nothing else, I'd have the two songs I wanted, but I was pleasantly surprised - there's a lot of fun material here, and I really appreciate the variety in the sound. It's nice to see a new artist play with different sounds while still maintaining the candy pop fun flavor.
I really like this new artist, and I can't wait to keep an eye (ear?) on her as her sound develops. This album is definitely a bargain. Like all Amazon MP3 downloads, this MP3 is DRM-free and plays beautifully, without fuss on my MP3 player.

First of all, let me say I am neither a Disney lover or hater, although I'd probably be closer to a lover. I wasn't expecting much from this album, but since I liked two of the songs and the album cost $1.99, I figured I might as well buy the whole thing and maybe find one or two more songs I liked.
Headstrong starts off with a couple of upbeat, engaging songs, So Much For You, He Said She Said, Be Good To Me and Not Like That. I enjoyed all of the songs except He Said She Said. I would recommend Parents and older siblings skip that song for their kids and younger siblings. Why does a kid need to listen to a song about "touching like that" and "kissing like that"? And for you rap fans, Be Good To Me has a rap in the middle (but not by Ashley). I thought the contrast of the rap and the song added to the sound of the song and album.
Unlove You's chorus-es sound almost painful - Ashley's voice is not complemented by it at all - but the verses were beautifully sung. Positivity, Goin' Crazy, Over It and Don't Touch are more upbeat songs that started my head nodding and worth a few (or more) listens. Over It immediatly grabs your attention with its interesting begining. We'll Be Together and Love Me For Me are ballads that weren't amazing or must-listens but are definately more than tolerable. Headstrong and Suddenly were the two songs I bought the album for and although I'm not much of a ballads person, Suddenly sounds so heartfelt and beautiful that I had to get it.
Overall, I'd give Headstrong 3 1/2 stars and add an extra star for the price. This album is absolutely worth more than 2 dollars and is a must buy for its price. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Headstong exceeds my expectations by a mile and most of the songs are worth listening to more than twice.

Ashley Tisdale's headstrong was the first CD I ever bought. I found it on a trip to Claire's with my mom and wasn't even thinking about buying it, but I did. And I'm so happy I did! This Cd was a breakthrough for me because it opened music to my life! I can't remember a time when music wasn't a part of my life anymore.
Even though now I listen to other "types" of music, it was great to begin with :) and I still consider it to be amazing music.
